Information We Collect
Hipcricket may collect non-personal information when you visit a website or when you use an app. This may include information such as your Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, cookie, device identifier, mobile ad identifier, and search query. This may also include personal information which has been de-identified by hashing it or through other steps to enable it to be used in a non-personal manner to help link demographic or other appended data to a user profile. If you have consented to providing a web site or app your precise location, this information may be provided to Hipcricket.
How We Use Information
Non-personal information that we collect may be used to provide a client with analytics, reporting services and advertising. Such information may also be shared with Hipcricket for use in linking additional information and for delivering and tailoring ads that you may see on other web sites or apps. We may use third party adservers or ad networks to assist us in tailoring the ads you see. Those ad networks may provide you with the choice to opt-out of these “interest-based ads”. Please visit their privacy policies for these options or visit www.networkadvertising.org for options.
You can opt-out of Hipcricket’s tailoring of ads across web sites by clicking here. Users of Apple’s iOS and many Android devices can opt-out of tailoring of ads across apps by turning on the Limit Ad Tracking setting. Hipcricket does not currently respond to Do Not Track browser settings. For information about Do Not Track and about your opt-out options, visit www.allaboutdnt.org.
Hipcricket shares information with vendors or agents who assist it in providing services. These entities act under our control and subject to our policies. Hipcricket does not share personal information with third parties; provided, however, Hipcricket may sell, transfer or otherwise disclose personal information provided by individuals to Hipcricket (excluding personal information collected by Hipcricket as a service provider for its clients), in connection with a sale of substantially all of Hipcricket’s assets, corporate merger or consolidation. We may share non-personal information for advertising or reporting purposes subject to the user choices described above.
When Hipcricket creates categories used to tailor ads across web sites or apps, we do not create categories that we deem as sensitive based on local law or industry standards. For example, we do not create categories aimed at children, or certain specific medical conditions or adult products.
Hipcricket will retain the data we process or store on behalf of our Clients for as long as needed to provide services to our Clients. Hipcricket will retain and use this personal information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. As a service provider, Hipcricket has no direct relationship with the individuals whose data it processes. An individual who seeks access, or who seeks to correct, amend, or delete inaccurate data should direct their query to the respective client of Hipcricket (the data controller), which has transferred such data for processing, or approved the use of a data collecting application on their behalf. If the client requests to remove the data, Hipcricket will respond to the request within 30 business days.
